Sylhet sees light rain, mercury rises to 42°C in Rajshahi

The temperature has decreased by 3-4 degrees Celsius across the country

While the country is suffering from the heat, few areas in Sylhet experienced light rainfall on Tuesday.

The highest temperature in the country in the last 24 hours was 42 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, which was 43 degrees Celsius in Pabna on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Met office said that the areas which are experiencing extreme heat may continue till Wednesday.

Apart from this, rain or thunderstorm may occur at one of two places in Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions.

The temperature of Dhaka which was 40.6 degrees Celsius has decreased to 37.1 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Apart from Dhaka, the temperature in Mymensingh decreased from 37 degrees Celsius to 34.5 degrees Celsius, in Rangpur from 39.2 degrees Celsius to 36.6 degrees Celsius, in Sylhet from 36.2 degrees Celsius to 35.5 degrees Celsius, in Chittagong it was 33.7 degrees Celsius which increased slightly to 34 degrees Celsius, Khulna was 38.8 which decreased to 37.5 and Barisal was 36.7 which decreased to 36 degree Celsius.

As a result, the temperature has decreased by 3-4 degrees Celsius across the country.

According to the 24-hour forecast of the Meteorological Department, the weather in the whole country may remain dry with partly cloudy sky. However, there is a possibility of light rain or rain with thunder in few places of Sylhet division.

An intense heatwave is passing over Rajshahi, Pabna, Chuadanga and Kushtia districts.

Mild to moderate heat wave is lashing Dhaka, Rangpur and Sylhet divisions and some parts of Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal divisions and Mymensingh, Chandpur, Cox's Bazar, Khagrachari and Patuakhali district and it may continue. 

Day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country.
