A mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping across parts of Bangladesh and it is likely to continue, said a met office forecast for 24 hours from 9am on Wednesday.
The heatwave is sweeping across Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and the district of Nilphamari, said the met office release.
The weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy skies, and day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged.
The trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas. Seasonal low lies over South Bay.
The highest temperature on Tuesday was 39.6 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga while the lowest temperature on Wednesday was 17.3 degrees Celsius in Rajarhat.
The sun sets at 6:19pm on Wednesday and rises at 5:40am on Thursday in the capital.
