Persona, country's leading beauty care and lifestyle service provider, has been widely criticized on social media for promoting “white supremacy”.
In a recent photoshoot which features Ridy Sheikh in a white saree and outlook, they captioned a photo: "Be the symbol of white supremacy with Persona!".
Some believe that the copywriter of this caption was unaware of the meaning of white supremacy which defines as the belief that white people constitute a superior race and should therefore dominate society, typically to the exclusion or detriment of other racial and ethnic groups.
After a backlash on the internet, the page quickly took down the post, but not before many took screenshots of the post.
"The picture was actually from a shoot for Canvas magazine," said Ridy Sheikh to the Daily Star. "It is totally unacceptable and I am glad they took it down. However, the damage has been done."
