Bangladesh's first International-certified Kazi & Kazi Tea estate limited has grabbed the attention of the members of Ohio State University and Indiana University.
Their interest brought them to Bangladesh to explore this single estate garden, situated in Tetulia, Panchaghar from March 12-14, said a press release.
The purpose of the visit was to gain an understanding of Bangladesh's 100% organic tea garden.
Ohio State University and Indiana University students said the visit to Kazi & Kazi Tea Estate was a great experience and they learned that Kazi & Kazi Tea do not use pesticides, or unnatural irrigation in their tea cultivation process-- instead, they allow nature to take its course.

The visitors were impressed by the overall organic procedure of the tea garden. Through fair labor practices and commitment to sustainability, Kazi & Kazi Tea positively impacted the life of workers and the community by providing education, healthcare programs, and employment opportunities for local women.
Through their organic farming practices, they have improved soil health and reduced the need for harmful pesticides and fertilizers.
The company is also committed to environmental sustainability, including a reforestation program to combat deforestation in the region, reads the press release.
Dhaka TribuneOne of the members from Ohio State University said: "I've never visited such a wonderful tea garden with 100% organic quality.”
They said they are planning to visit the tea garden every year with their students to show the origin of Teatulia and purchase Teatulia tea for their campus.
Kazi & Kazi Tea Estate's philosophy is to “produce great tea by supporting the natural and social environment". And for this Kazi & Kazi Tea is holding many international certificates like NOP/ USDA, EU, JAS, Rainforest Alliance, Fair Trade, HACCP.
Officials from the universities also visited the primary school of the Kazi Shaheed Foundation (KSF) along with the tea gardens and Kazi Shaheed Foundation (KSF).
KSF offers various programs ranging from the cooperative's cattle-lending program, which is one of its most innovative.
As part of the program, members receive money for buying cows, which they repay with milk and cow dung. The dung is used to fertilize the organic farm, and participants can pay off their cows within two to three years. Some have accumulated enough money to purchase land for their families because of the program.
