Popular restaurant chain Sultan's Dine has said they would take legal action as the company has been the victim of social media propaganda.
After Monday's hearing where the probe body of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) ruled out the allegation that said the restaurant was using meat from other animals, the company now wants to take legal action against the matter.
Sajid Zaman, a partner of the company, said: "When our company was being widely trolled on social media on a propaganda basis, we initially did file a GD, and the law enforcement will work on that.”
“We could not talk to them much during these troubles. We had many things to prove, we were busy with them,” Zaman added.
He also said: “We went through a bad phase. Those who are in my legal department will look into the matter. It's not just about one company's image—the entire industry is involved. Instead of telling the truth about the matter, it was trolled on social media. We will take action under the ICT Act against those who have trolled the company on social media.”
On Monday, the complainant, who claimed Sultan's Dine restaurant's Gulshan branch was not using mutton in their food, was absent during the hearing organized by the DNCRP.
Despite the representatives from Sultan's Dine being present at the hearing, the officials of the DNCRP could not manage to contact the complainant, said Director General AHM Shafiquzzaman of DNCRP.
His phone number was also switched off, he added.
Shafiquzzaman added that there were no breaches of consumer law regarding the restaurant's environmental conditions.
The accusations that the popular restaurant chain used meat from animals other than goats for their Kacchi Biryani were dismissed by the probe body of the DNCRP.
In this regard, Sultan's Dine authorities stated that they typically use smaller goats, weighing between seven to nine kilograms -- resulting in leaner bones compared to regular-sized goats.
