Locals shaved the head of seven teenagers and tied them up before handing them over to police for stealing goats in Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur Wednesday evening.
The detainees said that they were taking the goats for picnic. They also hired microbuses for the goats.
Locals said that on Wednesday afternoon, seven people were fleeing in a microbus with the goats of a woman named Hena Begum of Sukhnagari area of the upazila. Meanwhile, the locals looked at the microbus and saw the rope hanging outside the door of the microbus.
Confirming the matter, Laju Mia, a UP member of Ward No 7 of Balijuri union parishad, said: “Being suspicious, locals followed and caught the microbus and found two goats inside.”
Jamalpur Assistant Superintendent of Police (Madarganj Circle) Swajal Kumar Sarkar said: “The detainees are in the police station. A decision will be made if a complaint is filed.”
All those detained are under 16 years of age.
