Police recovered two bodies after a boat capsized in Titas river in Nabinagar of Brahmanbaria Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased are Hafez Mohammadullah, 22, son of Omar Farooq of Mirzachar in Raipura, Narsingdi, and Ratri Chowdhury, 15, daughter of Prahlad Chowdhury of Barail in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria, confirmed Nabinagar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Saifuddin Anwar.
He said that according to the locals, a boat with 20-25 passengers was going from Nabinagar to Mirzachar in the neighbouring district of Narsingdi through Titas river. However, while crossing the Sitarampur area, the boat sank after colliding with the pillar of a bridge.
At that time, the other passengers in the boat managed to save their lives by swimming, but two people drowned in the water. Later, police recovered their bodies with the help of locals.
The OC said that process of handing over the body to the family is underway.
