A supposed militant organization, claiming to be Ansar al Islam, has sent a letter to the Bangla Academy director general threatening to bomb the Amar Ekushey Book Fair.
The letter, signed by one Md Saidul Islam, arrived by post on Thursday, Bangla Academy security official Jahangir Alam said.
The academy had informed Shahbagh police about the matter, and they suggested filing a general diary, he said.
Later, the Rapid Action Battalion and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police took copies of the GD, the Bangla Academy official added.
Shahbagh police station SI Md Jabbar, the investigating officer, said the police were looking into the matter.
