A student riding a motorcycle was killed while another was injured after being hit by a bus on Jatrabari's Kajala road in Dhaka Thursday morning.
The deceased is Md Omar Faruk Palak, 24, son of Mominul Haque of Mirsarai upazila in Chittagong. The injured is Jewel Rana, 22. Both are students of Bangladesh Islami University (BIU).
When they were rescued and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the doctor on duty declared Omar Faruq Palak dead at 10am.
Injured Jewel Rana is undergoing treatment, his leg is broken, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost.
The body of Palak has been kept at the hospital morgue, he added.
Nadeem Hossain, a friend of the deceased's uncle, said that Palak and his friend and classmate Jewel were hit by a bus on their way to the university on a motorcycle from Jurain area.
