A mobile court at Bishwa Ijtema has fined three traders a total of Tk10,000 for selling unhygienic food and overcharging for blankets.
The mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Zakir Hossain said that “Allah'r Dan hotel”, which is close to Munnu Ceramics Gate, was fined Tk5,000 for selling rotten food, another trader was fined Tk1,000 for selling dates in unhygienic place, and another was fined Tk4,000 for selling blankets at higher rates.
Meanwhile, hotel owners, other food and fruit vendors at the Biswa Ijtema area have been warned against the matter.
During the last two days, worshippers staying at the ground of Bishwa Ijtema are suffering from diarrhoea, asthma and fever due to cold and pollution.
Many of them have been treated and admitted in Tongi's Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital and in various free medical camps near the Ijtema ground.
Director of Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital Mohammad Jahangir Alam said that 1,313 Muslims have been treated in the hospital till Friday afternoon. Among them 10 people including one foreigner were admitted and three were referred to Dhaka.
