Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan on Tuesday said trains will operate from Dhaka to Bhanga, Faridpur, through the Padma Bridge from June.
He said this while inspecting the progress of the construction of the rail link on the Padma Bridge in the Dogachi area of Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj.
Currently, 73% of the work is complete, the minister said.
“Construction is continuing round the clock… There has been satisfactory progress in maintaining the level of work. This line will link Dhaka to Mawa, Mawa to Bhanga and Bhanga to Jessore.”
“When all of the work is finished, residents of the southwestern districts will be able to take advantage of the Padma rail link, just like they can with the Padma Bridge,” he continued.
At the time, the engineers engaged in the construction of the rail link project were present with the minister.
