A legal notice has been served to seek information about what facilities the resigned BNP MPs have taken from the government, according to the law.
The notice was sent to the parliament secretariat secretary, Bangladesh Bank governor, auditor general, and others, reports Bangla Tribune.
Supreme Court lawyer barrister Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman sent the notice on Monday.
The notice says that the people have elected the MPs for five years through votes.
“And they have taken an oath to serve the people in these five years. But it is illegal to take state facilities without completing their tenure and serving the people of the country,” reads the notice.
The concerned officials have been requested to provide information in this regard within 72 hours.
On Sunday morning, the speaker received resignation letters from five of the seven BNP lawmakers.
The seats of six BNP MPs were later declared vacant by the parliament secretariat in a gazette notification published on Sunday afternoon.
The gazette was signed by Election Commission Secretary KM Abdus Salam.
The MPs are Md Zahidur Rahman of Thakurgaon-3; Md Mosharof Hosen of Bogura-4; Gulam Mohammad Siraj of Bogura-6; Md Aminul Islam of Chapainawabganj-2 and Rumeen Farhana, lawmaker from a seat reserved for women.
The resignation letter from Chapainawabganj-3 Harunur Rashid, who is currently abroad, was not accepted.
