The government has decided to introduce a single shift at all government primary schools, starting from January next year.
Senior Secretary of the Primary and Mass Education Ministry Aminul Islam Khan made the announcement at a press briefing on Sunday.
All government primary schools would start and end at the same time across Bangladesh, he added.
“After considering how many classrooms, teachers, and students there are, the plan will be implemented,” Aminul Islam Khan said.
He said, once the plan is implemented, teachers will be able to teach for five hours instead of three hours in one shift.
No teachers will lose their jobs, and no schools will have to be closed because of the new decision, the senior secretary assured.
