The University of Skill Enrichment and Technology (USET) organized a discussion program on the occasion of Sheikh Russel’s 58th birthday at the USET Auditorium at Bhuigor, Fatullah, Narayanganj on Tuesday.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday, Ms. Maheli Ahmed, Lecture from the CSE department, hosted the program, and Prof Dr Moazzem Hossain, founder and chairman, Board of Trustees of USET, graced the program as the chief guest while Prof Dr Md Nurul Islam, Vice Chancellor of USET, presided over the program.
Prof Moazzem declared the Sheikh Russel Research Institute to be founded at the USET after his name and every faculty member have been advised to submit at least one research paper every year.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Moazzem Hossain said that the nation's founding father had wished for his youngest son to become a philosopher like the well-known Bertrand Russell, but the tragic irony of fate forced the two to pass away on the same day, August 15, 1975.
In addition, he prayed for Sheikh Russel and the father of the nation’s family members who perished in the August 15, 1975.
The university campus was planted with trees in Sheikh Russell's honor following a debate session and a doa mahfil.
While Sultan Mahmud, USET's treasurer, addressed at the Sheikh Russell's Day program, Prof Dr Anis Alam Siddiqui, pro-vice chancellor of USET, made the welcome address. At the conclusion of the program, Prof Dr Jebunnahar, dean of the School of Engineering, and the head of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), offered the vote of Thanks.
The discussion event included participation from faculty from several departments, students, and university officers.
