The first group of Bangladeshi students, who were studying in different Chinese universities and got stuck after returning to Bangladesh amid the pandemic, has returned to China.

The first chartered flight took off to Kunming, China on Monday, informed Deputy Chief of Mission Hualong Yan in a Facebook post.

“The first chartered flight of the Eastern Airlines for students by China Eastern Airlines is to take off for Kunming in minutes, China,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.

He also thanked the ministry of foreign affairs, the Association of Bangladesh China Alumni (ABCA), and China Eastern Airlines for making it possible.

Earlier, the Chinese embassy in Bangladesh announced that six chartered flights from Bangladesh to China were approved by the Chinese government.

China Southern Airlines and Eastern Airlines were scheduled to take the students in September and October, the embassy informed.

China Southern Airlines would take off for Guangzhou on September 28th, October 12th, and October 26th. And three others would fly from Dhaka to Kunming respectively on September 26th, October 10th, and October 24th by China Eastern Airline, the official added.

Around 3,000 Bangladeshi students, who had to return home from China due to Covid-19, wrote to the foreign ministry on August 25, 2020, to take necessary steps for their return to China.
