The police have detained a student of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur on charges of making offensive comments about religion on Facebook.
The law enforcement agency nabbed him at his home in Birganj upazila of Thakurgaon on Saturday morning.
Tajhat police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Kadir said the post on religion had drawn some criticism.
The student was being interrogated at the police station, the OC said, adding that no case had been filed yet against him.
Begum Rokeya University Proctor Md Golam Rabbani told Bangla Tribune that the student had been accused of hurting religious sentiment.
