A case has been filed against at least 75 BNP leaders and activists in connection with the attack on police in Dhaka’s Mirpur area on Thursday.
Pallabi police station OC Parvez Islam confirmed the matter to Bangla Tribune on Friday.
He said Sub-Inspector (SI) Saiful Islam of the police station filed the case against 75 BNP activists and 150 unnamed persons on charges of obstructing government work and attacking policemen.
The BNP claims that at least 100 of its activists were injured during a series of clashes with some Awami League men on Thursday in the capital’s Mirpur area over holding a scheduled rally.
At one stage, the police rushed to the spot and fired teargas shells to bring the situation under control.
Several policemen were injured when they tried to disperse the agitators.
