The government has decided that examinations will no longer be postponed across Bangladesh due to natural disasters, instead only in disaster-affected areas, Education Minister Dipu Moni has said.
The minister made the statement at the Secretariat while addressing the press on Monday.
Earlier, Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams were postponed due to floods in Sylhet and the northern regions of Bangladesh.
Although the exams were originally scheduled to begin on June 19, they will now take place on September 15 instead.
The education minister said this year, a total of 2,021,868 students will participate in the SSC and equivalent exams.
Meanwhile, all coaching centres in Bangladesh will remain closed from September 12 to October 2, ahead of SSC and equivalent examinations.
The decision was taken to create a fair, plagiarism-free, and positive environment for the SSC examinees.
