The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has sought bank account details of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) Managing Director Taqsem A Khan and his family.

The BFIU, an agency responsible for investigating suspicious transactions, sent letters to the banks on Wednesday in this regard.

Taqsem has been asked to submit the documents within five working days.

On August 17, the High Court issued a rule questioning why the inaction of the authorities concerned to remove Dhaka Wasa Managing Director Taqsem A Khan from his post should not be declared illegal.

The court also ordered the Wasa board to submit a report within 60 days informing how much money the MD took as salary and bonus and enjoyed other facilities in the last 13 years.

Taqsem A Khan was appointed as Wasa MD on a three-year contract in 2009. His contract was extended three times.

According to the latest board decision, the monthly salary of Wasa MD is Tk6,25,000.
