The Covid-19 vaccination campaign for children is underway in 186 centres of 12 city corporations, including the capital, in Bangladesh.
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain came up with the statement after inaugurating the children’s vaccination program at Nilkhet Government Primary School in the capital on Thursday.

“Vaccination has started in 21 centres under the jurisdiction of two city corporations in the capital. After completing the campaign in city corporation areas, we will start vaccination at upazila level,” he said.

The vaccination program will continue for the next 14 days from Thursday, he added.
The minister added that those who have already registered are receiving the vaccine while the rest will be given later following registration.

When asked about the measures to be taken in case of any untoward incident, the state minister said: “So far, no untoward incident has occurred. However, we have a management team to deal with any untoward incident in each of our centres.”
Dhiraj Lal, 10, a second grader student of Nilkhet Government Primary School, who received the vaccine, said: “I was not afraid. And I didn’t even feel any pain when taking the vaccine.”
Dhiraj’s father Ravi Lal said that the initiative of the government is admirable. And the process of registration is very easy as well.
