Bangladesh Railway's ticketing partner Shohoz-Synesis-Vinsen JV has crossed a milestone by issuing nearly 10 million train tickets in the last 4 months.

On average, between 80,000 and 100,000 tickets are issued daily online and over the counters, said a press release issued on Thursday.

With its launch on March 25, Shohoz started issuing tickets at 77 stations by counter panel software in accordance with its contract with Bangladesh Railway.

More than 160,000 tickets were issued during Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha this year.

Besides, a total of 1.4 million people have registered for online tickets through Bangladesh Railway's new official ticketing website and “Rail Sheba” app as of July 31.

According to a contract signed on February 15, Shohoz was set to complete all railway digital platform development activities within 18 months.

So far, Shohoz developed a railway ticketing website with a counter panel, and a new rail service mobile App while providing regular services for the last 4 months.

Shohoz Public Relations Manager Farhat Ahmed said: "We are working tirelessly to provide advanced, automatic, and sophisticated digital ticketing services within 18 months in accordance with our agreement with Bangladesh Railway.”

“Once the entire development work is completed, passengers will feel more comfortable purchasing tickets,” he added.

A computer-based ticketing system was introduced in Bangladesh Railway in 1994. At that time, only 27 stations used to issue tickets through the system, but now, 81 stations operate on the system.
