Rain likely across Bangladesh in next 24 hours

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay, as per the bulletin

The weather department has predicted showers across Bangladesh in the next 24 hours.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country,” the department said in its bulletin on Thursday morning.

Besides, a mild heat wave is sweeping through the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna and Naogaon and it may continue.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The weather office recorded the highest rainfall at 94 mm in Chittagong in 24 hours till 6am on Thursday.

The highest temperature was recorded at 37°C in Rajshahi, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 25°C in Rangamati and Feni.

The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal to Assam across central parts of Bangladesh.

One of its associated troughs extends up to the North Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay, as per the bulletin.
