Signal three at maritime ports

Bangladesh Meteorological Department asked authorities to hoist cautionary signal three at maritime ports due to the formation of a deep convection over the North Bay. The monsoon depression over the Khulna region and adjoining areas moved slightly northwards and lies over Jessore and adjoining areas, as of yesterday evening. Low-lying areas of the coastal districts are likely to be inundated by tidal surge of 3-4 feet higher than the normal astronomical tide. The Met Office also advised all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay to anchor close to the coast until further notice.
