The authority of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has ensured quality mobile network in the bridge and its adjunct area ahead of the occasion of the inauguration of the Padma Bridge on Saturday.
Shyam Sunder Sikder, chairman of BTRC, has visited the area on Friday to inspect the steps taken by the mobile phone operators and the quality of the network in that area, said a notification issued by BTRC.
The BTRC chairman visited a permanent site jointly set up by Grameenphone, Robi and Banglalink near Service Area-1 at Mawa end and a temporary site set up by Grameenphone and Teletalk during his visit, reads the notification.
At that time, the mobile phone operators informed the BTRC chairman about the steps they have taken to strengthen the network.
An inspection team later checked the quality of the network over the bridge and at the Jazira end.
According to the notification, operators have enhanced the transmission capabilities of 2G, 3G and 4G technologies to ensure a quality mobile network for all who attend the opening ceremony on both sides of the bridge.
Besides, mobile operators have increased the transmission capacity of their sites to ensure quality telecommunication services for users in the area adjacent to the Padma Bridge and the Babubazar-Bhanga Highway.
Transmission bandwidth of 50 Grameenphone sites has been increased in the area adjacent to Babubazar-Bhanga Highway. Teletalk has also received unlimited bandwidth for transmission purposes from NTTN operators.
All mobile operators have formed special monitoring teams to monitor the overall condition of the network in the Padma Bridge and adjoining areas.
According to Grameenphone, their users will be able to enjoy the opening ceremony directly from anywhere through the My GP app at free of cost.
