Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has proposed to increase the subsidy for fertilizers by Tk4,000 crore in the proposed budget as compared to last fiscal.
He presented the budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 in Parliament on Thursday.
He said that, in the budget of the last financial year, the allocation for fertilizer subsidy was Tk9,000 crore.
“But due to the increase in the price of fertilizer around the world, at the end of the year, it stood at Tk12,000 crore. As the price hike continues, the amount of subsidy has been increased to Tk16,000 crore this time,” he added.
