Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday proposed to increase the import cost of exotic birds 25%, from last fiscal year’s 5%.
“At present, the country is importing luxurious birds, which attracts 5% import duty. Since birds are luxurious, I am proposing to increase the import duty from 5% to 25% on those,” he said.
The minister placed a Tk6,78,064 crore budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
This is the fourth budget of the third consecutive term of the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and also the overall 51st budget of the country.
