The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a fugitive who was sentenced to death last month for his involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.
The elite police unit nabbed Nazrul Islam from Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area on Friday, RAB spokesman Khandaker Al Moin told the media.
Earlier, on May 31, the International Crimes Tribunal handed the death sentence to war criminals Nazrul, Rezaul Karim Montu and Md Shaheed Mondol.
Both Rezaul and Shaheed are in prison.
They three were found guilty of murder, kidnapping, torture, looting and arson during the Liberation War.
