2 war criminals get life term imprisonment in Khulna

The convicted men were present in the court when the verdict was announced

A Khulna court on Tuesday sentenced two war criminals to life imprisonment for in the crime against humanity case for killing a brave freedom fighter Md Amin Uddin during the Liberation War. 

The convicts are Amjad Meena and Sabaj Halder, residents of Chandpur village of Rupsa upazila. 

At the same time, they have been fined 20,000, in default, they have to serve 3 months rigorous imprisonment. 

Judge Mir Shafiqul Alam of the District and Sessions Court of Khulna announced the verdict on Tuesday. 

The convicted men were present in the court when the verdict was announced. 

Public Prosecutor Sheikh Enamul Haque, lawyer for the state, said that after the murder of Amin Uddin on October 19, 1971, his family members could not file a case because of the threat to their lives. 

Later in 2010, Advocate Sheikh Mohammad Ali, the son of the deceased, filed a case as the plaintiff. Among the three accused in this case, Jalil Hawladar died.
