Biman Bangladesh Airlines has decided to resume its online ticketing service from February 27, after a 6-month suspension, through the new Passenger Service Solution (PSS) SABRE.
Biman decided to re-launch the online ticketing facility in order to modernize passenger service, said a release on Thursday.
SABRE will enable passengers to avail of ticketing, booking and check-in services online without much hassle.
In 2019, Biman Bangladesh Airlines hired an organization to sell tickets online on a temporary basis under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
But the firm failed to implement the online ticketing system properly. As a result, the service was suspended on August 10 last year.
Biman spokesperson Tahera Khondoker alleged that the firm had resorted to unethical means of ticket sales, which also created confusion among ticket seekers.
The airline was able to sell tickets worth around Tk130 crore online during the firm’s operation.
Meanwhile, the airline's booking, reservation and ticketing activities will remain closed from 3.45pm on February 26 till 3pm on February 27 due to data transfer from existing service solution SITA to SABRE, the release added.
The purchasing, changing and refunding of tickets at all Biman routes through all domestic and foreign sales offices, authorized travel agencies and call centers will continue in the meantime.
