Bangladesh sees two more dengue deaths, 323 hospitalizations in 24hrs

Currently, 1,158 patients are admitted to various government and private hospitals across the country

Two more people died from dengue in the 24 hours till Monday morning.

With the latest development, the official death toll from the viral fever rose to 36 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Meanwhile, a total of 323 people were hospitalized in the 24-hour period.

Of the new patients, 260 people were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and the rest outside the capital.

According to DGHS, currently, 1,158 patients are admitted to various government and private hospitals across the country, with 914 in Dhaka and 244 in other divisions.

Since January this year, a total of 5,231 patients have been admitted to hospitals for dengue, out of which 4,037 have been discharged after successful treatment.

The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019. Also, it recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
