Update : 17 Jun 2023, 12:35 PM

As the monsoon remains fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Saturday morning forecast a likelihood of light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds in most parts of the country, which may bring down the temperature.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, at many places over Rangpur and Dhaka divisions, and at a few places over Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions, with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, the met office said in its bulletin.

However, a severe heatwave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna and Bogra. A mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over Khulna division, the rest of Rajshahi division, and the districts of Tangail, Faridpur and Dinajpur, and it may continue.

Regarding temperature changes, day temperatures are anticipated to remain stable across Rajshahi and Khulna divisions. Elsewhere in the country, a slight dip in the daytime temperature is expected. Night temperatures, however, are projected to stay as they are across the country.

The country's highest temperature on Friday was recorded at 41.3°C in Rajshahi while the lowest on Saturday was 22°C in Sreemangal.

Meanwhile, the highest 116mm of rainfall was recorded in Sylhet in the past 24 hours.
