A nagging heatwave is sweeping over the country for the last two weeks and it is likely to continue for a few more days while driving the temperature to 41.7 degrees Celcius on Friday.
For protection during a heatwave, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), people should move to the coolest room in the home, especially at night.
If it is not possible to keep the home cool, people are advised to spend 2-3 hours of the day in a cool place, such as an airconditioned public building or in a shade.
The WHO suggests avoiding strenuous physical activity if possible, otherwise doing it during the coolest part of the day, which is usually in the morning between 4am and 7am.
People should not leave children or animals in parked vehicles. It may become fatal.
