The fire that broke out at Bangabazar market in the capital has now spread to the markets -- Islamia Market and Annex Tower -- on the opposite side of the road.
Fire service personnel are tirelessly throwing water from various vehicles in the distance to control the blaze. Due to the severity of the fire, some fire service vehicles had to be moved away from the road.
Meanwhile, water shortage has occurred while controlling the fire in Bangabazar, causing the fire service personnel to work even faster to contain the fire.

There are four markets – Bangabazar Market, Mahanagar Market, Adarsha Market, and Gulistan Market, – in the area. General people refer to all of them together as Bangabazar Shopping Complex. Traders said that there are about 3,000 shops in these four markets.
Traders who managed to reach the spot early after hearing the news, took out some items from their shops. However, the affected traders are lamenting after losing most of their goods in the fire.
Shariful Islam, a businessman who lost his business, said: "I was doing business with loans. Now we are all over."
The fire broke out around 6am. Currently, 48 units of fire service are working relentlessly to control it.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a joint support team of the Bangladesh Army, a support team of the Bangladesh Air Force, and a helicopter have been deployed to help control the fire in Bangabazar.
Meanwhile, local residents are being urged to come forward to help the fire service without creating any roadblocks.
Shahbagh police station Officer-in-Charge Noor Mohammad has informed that additional police have been deployed for security.
