Police have arrested a young man, who was seen unscrewing nuts and bolts of the newly inaugurated Padma Bridge in a video that went viral on Sunday.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police picked up Bayezid Talha, a TikToker from Dhaka’s Shantinagar on Sunday.
The police is in the process of filing a case against him under the Special Powers Act, CID chief Barrister Mahbubur Rahman told Bangla Tribune.
Earlier, the Detective Branch also questioned him to figure out whether it was a prank or if there was any motive behind it, according to CID sources.
On Sunday, a video of a young man unscrewing nuts and bolts of the Padma Bridge went viral on social media. The video sparked outrage as it is one of the few incidents that showed the public breaking rules on the bridge only a day into the opening.
