There is no scope of prices of essential commodities including edible oil dropping soon, says Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi.
He made the remarks while participating in a workshop titled “Action Plan for Building Social Movement to Prevent Drug Abuse” at Rangpur Tourism Motel on Wednesday.
He said: "The rise in the value of the dollar and the Ukraine-Russia war has caused instability in the world market. If the Ukraine-Russia war ends, the situation could return to normal. "
He further said that, due to the increase in prices of essential commodities, arrangements have been made to provide edible oil at affordable prices to 50 million people in 10 million households, as directed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Earlier, Divisional Commissioner Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan presided over the workshop at the initiative of the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Director General of the Narcotics Department Abdus Sabur Mandal, Secretary of the Security Services Department Mokabbir Hossain, among others, were present on the occasion.
