President M Abdul Hamid on Tuesday asked the authorities concerned to ensure quality education at the universities.
He made the call when Brac University Vice-Chancellor Prof Vincent Chang paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban in Dhaka in the evening.
"There is no alternative to ensuring quality education to produce skilled human resources. Besides, research and innovation activities need to be intensified on the campuses," Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin quoted the president as saying.
The head of the state asked the university authorities across the country to formulate a time-befitting curriculum so that the new generation can face the global competition.
The Bangabhaban spokesman told BSS that the BracU VC, during the meeting, briefed the president on the overall activities of the university, including academic and other infrastructural development.
In the meeting, Chang also invited the president, who is also the chancellor of the universities, to chair the upcoming convocation of Brac University.
President's Office Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salahuddin Islam, Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin and Secretary (attachment) Md Wahidul Islam Khan were present there.
