Heavy rainfalls hit most parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, on Tuesday due to the cyclonic storm Asani.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), there will be intermittent light, moderate or heavy rain across the country throughout Wednesday as well.
Rain brought some relief from the summer heat, but also caused some suffering to the residents of Dhaka with the flooding of low-lying streets.
The BMD’s 24-hour weather forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershower with temporary gusts is likely in most parts of Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, and in many parts of Rangpur division.

Daytime temperatures may drop slightly across the country and nighttime temperatures may remain almost unchanged.
Meteorologist Hafizur Rahman said: "It is raining in almost all parts of the country including Dhaka due to the storm – somewhere medium and somewhere heavy. This rain may last till dawn in different areas. However, it may decrease in some areas after the evening.”
Mehedi Hasan/Dhaka TribuneMeanwhile, a special meteorological notice said Cyclone Asani, located in West-Central Bay and surrounding areas, is moving towards west-northwest and is staying in the same area. It will move further north-west and weaken and turn into a weak cyclone in the next 12 hours.

Meanwhile, the forecast for river ports up to 6pm said temporary winds with thunderstorms of 60-70kmph from south-east or east may blow over Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar areas.
In other parts of the country, there may be temporary gusts of wind with rain or thunderstorms at speeds of 45-60kmph from the southeast or east. River ports in these areas have been asked to hoist Cautionary Signal No 1.
