Bangladesh saw the charisma of Nature on Thursday, the first day of the Bangla calendar, as a nor’wester lashed many parts of the country, killing at least seven people including three children.
The inclement weather is likely to continue on Friday, according to a bulletin by the Met Office, mainly in Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
“The mild heat wave that is sweeping over the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna and Chuadanga may continue,” it added.
Country’s maximum rainfall was recorded in Sylhet at 18 mm in the last 24 hours.
The trough of westerly low lies over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and the adjoining area. Seasonal low lies over South Bay, it said.
In Sunamganj, at least five people were killed during a nor’wester in two separate incidents on Thursday.
A woman and her two children died after a tree fell on their home in Jagannathpur Upazila. Moreover, a man and his seven-year-old son died in Shalla Upazila after they were fatally struck by a lightning.
In Habiganj, lightning strikes killed three people, including a child, in separate incidents on Thursday.
The deaths were reported from three villages in Baniachang Upazila, said police.
