Waziha Tanaz Chowdhury, a student of Class-III of Anandaniketan School in Sylhet, received the first prize in an international art contest, organized by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations, marking International Year of Plant Health 2020.
The award was announced recently at a virtual ceremony, says a release yesterday.

Agriculture ministers of Finland and Ireland also gave their valuable messages in that ceremony.
The United Nations declared 2020 as the International Year of Plant Health (IYPH). The Year was extended until July 1 due to the postponement of some key initiatives caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. 
Waziha received the first prize in an international art contest, organized by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations I CourtesyChildren aged 5 to 13 from around the world were invited to show their creativity and to portray what protecting plant health means to them.
The title of Tanaz's artwork was: Ways of Protecting Plant Health. It shows how plant pests destroy our food. It also suggests some possible ways of protecting plant health, the FAO said.
"A good research can identify different features of pests through what we can take measures accordingly. In addition, we can take protection and caution in sea ports and airports as we know that passengers and their luggage carry pests and insects from one country to another," reads the web post.
The second and third awards went to two participants from India and China.
