Bangladesh has ranked 15th in the list of countries with the most number of people vaccinated for Covid-19 since January 1 till Saturday.
According to the data provided by Our World in Data, Bangladesh, which started its nationwide vaccination drive on February 7, immunized a total 2.08 million people during this period.
The US topped the chart with 61.29 million people while UK and India secured the second and third positions as they managed to inoculate 18.20 million and 10.84 million people respectively.
When it comes to the list of the total number of vaccine doses administered per 100 people against a country’s total population, Bangladesh secured the 15th spot with 1.26 immunized in every 100 people till Saturday.
Israel topped this chart with 85.01 whereas UAE and the UK stood second and third on the list with 56.15 and 26.81 inoculated per 100 people respectively.
In the list of the total number of people who received at least one vaccine dose, Bangladesh ranks 10th in the world with 2.08 million people brought under its vaccination efforts.
Bangladesh ranks 14th in the world in the list that measures the share of the total population of one country that received at least one vaccine dose.
Bangladesh, till Saturday, immunized 1.3% of its total population. This list is topped by Israel with 49.7% of its total population immunized. The UK holds the second position with 25.9% inoculated.
As per DGHS data, till Monday, the number of vaccine receivers in Bangladesh stands at 2,308,157 – 1,518,715 male and 789,442 female.
Bangladesh received the first batch of five million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine on January 25. Earlier, the Indian government sent two million doses of the vaccine to Bangladesh as a gift on January 20
The country received the second batch of two million doses of Covid-19 vaccine from India in the early hours of Tuesday.
On November 5 last year, Bangladesh signed a deal with SII for the procurement of 30 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. As per contract, Serum Institute will supply five million doses each month.
