Dr Tanweer Hasan, Rolf A Weil Professor of Finance at Roosevelt University, Illinois, USA, joins as the new vice-chancellor of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) from February 23.
He has been appointed as VC of IUB by the honorable President of Bangladesh and Chancellor of the Universities, Md Abdul Hamid, a press release said.
Dr Hasan was formally recognized for his excellence in teaching at multiple academic institutions during his career. He served in various administrative capacities that include associate provost, Roosevelt University (Planning & Budget), associate dean and director of the MBA Program, and the founding executive director of the Finance Honors Program at the College of Business at the same University.
Dr Hasan also obtained his PhD in Finance from the University of Houston in Texas, 1993. Prior to that he completed his MBA with concentration in Finance from Baylor University, Texas in 1989, Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) in Finance from the University of Dhaka in 1986 and the Management Development Program (MDP) from Harvard University (MA, USA).
Dr. Hasan is an alumni (ex-cadet) of Mirzapur Cadet College where he completed both SSC and HSC in 1979 and 1981 respectively.
He has more than 40 published articles in reputed business and economics journals to his credit. He served in the capacity of an editor, guest editor, and editorial board member of several journals and also presented his works in thirty seven countries.
In his personal life, Professor Tanweer Hasan is a proud father of two children – a son and a daughter.
