ASA founder Shafiqual Haque passes away

He served as an adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture, Youth, Sports and Cultural Affairs during 2006-2007

Non-governmental organization Association for Social Advancement (ASA) founder and President Md Shafiqual Haque Choudhury has passed away at a hospital in Dhaka.

He died of acute cardiac shock at Square Hospital early Friday, the organization said in its website.

Shafiqual is survived by wife, three sons, and a host of relatives to mourn his death.

He served as an adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture, Youth, Sports and Cultural Affairs during 2006-2007.

Members of ASA governing body and general body, and employees of the organization expressed deep shock and sorrow at the demise of Shafiqual Haque.

They prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, Gonoshasthaya Kendra Founder Zafrullah Chowdhury also mourned the death of the ASA founder.

Shafiqual will be buried after Jummah prayers at the Mirpur Intellectuals' Graveyard, a statement from Gonoshasthaya Kendra said.
