The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Jatiya Party (JaPa) leader and incumbent Bogra 2 MP Shariful Islam Zinnah for amassing illegal wealth.
ACC Deputy Director Jahangir Alam filed the case at its Integrated District Office 1 in Dhaka on Tuesday.
ACC Director (Media) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
On September 16, 2019, the anti-graft body issued a notice against JaPa leader Shariful Islam Jinnah to file a statement of his assets for allegedly amassing illegal wealth.
There were allegations of misuse of power, embezzlement of funds from government projects, and accumulation of wealth from unknown sources against the MP, according to the ACC sources.
The ACC's investigation team found inconsistencies in his asset statement.
According to the case statement, the JaPa leader concealed information of assets worth Tk90 lakh and accumulated Tk1.60 crore worth of wealth from unidentified sources.
The ACC decided to file a case against him after finding preliminary evidence.
