Maj Gen Md Nazrul Islam appointed BEPZA executive chairman

He replaces Major General S M Salahuddin Islam, who recently joined as military secretary to the president, according to a press release

Major General Md Nazrul Islam has taken charge as the new executive chairman of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA).

He replaces Major General S M Salahuddin Islam, who recently joined as military secretary to the president, according to a press release.

Before joining BEPZA, Maj Gen Nazrul was general officer commanding (GOC) of the 66 Infantry Division at Rangpur Cantonment. Prior to that, he served as area commander of logistics at Dhaka Cantonment. He also commanded an artillery brigade at Comilla Cantonment.

Maj Gen Nazrul has also previously served at the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), Armed Forces Division and Military Secretariat (MS) Branch of Army Headquarters. 

His Military career spanned over command, staff and instructional appointments. He commanded three artillery units and has served at the UN missions in Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Major General Nazrul Islam was awarded with the prestigious Sena Parodorshita Padak (SPP) for his dynamic leadership in 2020.
