There were reports of a Bangladeshi family going missing in the June 14 fire. Several news media reported that three British-Bangladeshi siblings had chosen to stay with their parents and embrace death instead of leaving them alone to die. Rabeya's husband Kamru Mia hailed from Moulvibazar sadar upazila's Akailkura union. Their two other sons – Abdul Hanif and Abdul Hamid – had died with them in the fire. The UK authorities, however, did not confirm the identity and citizenship of the three male victims of the fire. Explaining their decision to stay back, the siblings had explained to their relatives over phone that it was impossible to get their ill parents down 17 floors. They did not want their parents to die alone. At least 79 people have been killed in the fire, according to official figures, with a number of people still unaccounted for.
