Flydubai has refunded tickets to 104 Bangladeshi passengers who were refused entry at a Dubai Airport due to the airline’s failure in following UAE immigration policy.

The 104 passengers, of whom 51 flew from Dhaka and 53 from Chittagong, were each refunded the ticket price and paid another Tk3,500 as compensation for the inconvenience.

The airline made the payments through an event arranged at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Monday.

Flydubai Assistant Sales Manager Sirajul Islam Mukul offered his sincere apologies to the passengers present on the occasion.

On the occasion, Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh (CAAB) chairman Air Vice Marshal Mofidur Rahman said: “All our arrangements and efforts are for passengers. We are constantly working to increase services for and safety of passengers.”

Airport director Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan said: “Expatriates are sending remittances to our country to keep the country's economy afloat. All facilities are being ensured at the airport to keep their journey smooth.”

Earlier on October 9, 104 Bangladeshi passengers, travelling to Dubai on two Flydubai flights, were refused entry at the immigration of a Dubai airport because the airline had failed to comply with UAE immigration policy.

On October 11, the Magistrate's Court at HSIA directed the airline authorities in Dhaka to return the ticket fares and pay an additional Tk3,500 as compensation to each passenger by October 18.
