Attorney General Mahbubey Alam has been laid to rest in Mirpur Intellectuals Graveyard in Dhaka.
He was buried around 1pm on Monday following a namaz-e-janaza held on the premises of Supreme Court.
Cabinet members, eminent jurists, senior lawyers, politicians, and leaders of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and Bangladesh Bar Council attended the funeral prayer around 11:35am.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, other judges of the Appellate Division, and judges of the High Court Division joined the janaza, among others.
After the funeral prayer, tributes were paid on behalf of President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the longest serving attorney general of Bangladesh.

Later, the chief justice, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed, and office of the attorney general, among others, paid tributes to the state's chief legal officer.
According to Supreme Court officials, the benches of the Appellate Division and High Court will not hear any matter on Monday in line with an order from the chief justice.
Earlier, Mahbubey Alam's body was brought to his Eskaton residence in the morning from the mortuary of Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the city.

Mahbubey Alam, 71, passed away at the CMH around 7:25pm on Sunday, nearly four weeks after he was diagnosed with the deadly Covid-19.
He was admitted to the hospital on September 4 after being diagnosed with the viral disease.
The former SCBA president, who had been practicing law at the High Court since 1975, has left behind his wife, journalist son Sumon Mahbub, and lawyer daughter Shishir Kona, apart from many relatives and well-wishers.
Mahbubey Alam had been the state's chief legal officer for 11 years, since January 13, 2009. He was also chairman of the Bangladesh Bar Council, a position reserved for the attorney general.

He represented the state on a good number of major cases before the Supreme Court, including the Bangabandhu assassination case, and cases concerning the constitution's fifth, seventh and 13th amendments.
He also led the state in multiple 1971 war crimes cases, especially those against Abdul Quader Molla, Delwar Hossain Sayedee, Muhammad Kamaruzzaman, Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid, Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, and Motiur Rahman Nizami.
As the chief state lawyer, with many other important cases under his belt, Mahbubey Alam also led the prosecution in the BDR mutiny case and the case over the 16th constitutional amendment.
President Hamid and Prime Minister Hasina, in their statements on Sunday, remembered his contributions in these cases and in establishing the rule of law.
