Brac University has decided to continue its student assistance fund (SAF) for the upcoming semester.
The authorities of the university announced the decision said in a statement on Saturday.
In May, the university launched the SAF and online learning platform buX to help students in financial hardship and ensure online classes during the pandemic.
Initially, TK15 crore had been committed to the fund for the previous semester, and the sum has now been adjusted to TK23 crores. Every student received full non-tuition fee waivers and 10% tuition scholarships.
Some received scholarships higher than 10%, even up to 100%, according to the press release.
Similar facilities will be offered for the upcoming semester, it added.
Furthermore, the university has announced that buX will be modified so that the learning platform is more accessible for students in remote areas.
“Our students are our top priority. buX is the heart of Brac University X, our new virtual campus. It shall ensure remote learning and be accessible to all students. It is our intent that with SAF and buX, we will leave no one behind,” said Brac University Professor Chang.
