The Election Commission has announced the schedule for the by-polls to Dhaka 5, Naogaon 6 parliamentary seats, setting October 17 for the voting.
The commission’s Secretary Md Alamgir told the media on Thursday that electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be used for vote casting.
The deadline for filing nominations is September 17, officials will scrutinize those on September 20, he said before adding the last day to pull out from the race is September 27.

Polls symbols will be allotted to qualified candidates on September 28.
Schedules for the postponed local government elections will be announced by the end of September, said EC Secretary Alamgir.
The Dhaka 5 and Naogaon 6 constituencies fell vacant after the deaths of Habibur Rahman Mollah on May 6 and Israfil Alam on Jul 28, respectively.
