The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) says there is no possibility of flooding in the Brahmaputra and Ganges basins during the next 10 days.
“Water levels in the Brahmaputra-Jamuna river system may steadily fall during the next seven days. So there is no significant probability of flooding at other stations of the Brahmaputra basin in the next 10 days,” the FFWC said in its latest flood outlook.
As the Ganges-Padma river system is also likely to steadily fall, there is no possibility of flooding in the Ganges basin in the next 10 days either.
Rivers around Dhaka city may steadily fall and no probability of flooding has been forecasted in the rivers around Dhaka city, the 10 day flood outlook said.
According to the FFWC’s daily bulletin issued on Tuesday morning, all the major rivers of the country, except the Brahmaputra, are in a falling trend and the rivers in the upper Meghna basin may continue to recede in the next 24 hours.
All the major rivers of the country are flowing below their respective danger levels, the bulletin added.
Of the total 101 river points monitored in the country on Tuesday, water levels went up at 34 stations, decreased at 65 stations, and remained stable at two points, official data showed.
